This is for those bummed about the lack of video format capabilities on the instinct or the relatively low storage space afforded by the 8GB sd card limit for Instinct compatibility.

As anyone who's read the movie posts on the forums probably knows, I like to watch movies and TV on my Instinct. In fact, that's the main reason I chose this phone - nice big screen size and decent resolution compared to the phones out at the time and on decent networks (I'm looking at you AT&T). 2 Minor problems. The first being the 3gp issue, which is easily enough overcome by a video converter. The second minor problem is storage space. Getting an 8GB card helps, but still I can't have access to the TB of media I have in my library without some forethought and time to convert/copy the media.

That's where Orb comes in. This program allows you to register an account for free, select media stored on your PC as part of your library, select a format to stream it in and stream it to your mobile device in the format that your device can use. Or at least that's the idea. This is where things get a little hairy. I have had issues with this. I can browse to the media and see thumbnails, but every time I try to play the video, the player loads, the spinning yellow ring that means good (albeit pixelated) things are coming happens, sometimes the ring freezes, some times it just goes away, and the little green dot in the lower left corner of the screen appears. Then nothing. Black screen which when tapped displays Playing External RSTP (or something like this). Nothing ever loads. If you are experiencing this problem, try this:
1. Download and install Orb
2. Create your account and select your media for your library. The TOS states no copyrighted media, but if you do use copyrighted media, make sure it's set not to be shared. Orb will report to authorities, so make sure it's not pirated or otherwise illegal.
3. Download Opera Mini 5 (it's a beta, but be a little patient and it's fairly stable.)
4. Edit the settings in Opera Mini to landscape mode and change the protocol from Socket to HTTP
5. Browse to http://mycast.orb.com and input the login information and select it to remember you and log you in automatically (for ease of use).
6. Create a bookmark once you're logged in
Now you can select video and stream the content to the instinct. There are some additional settings that need to be specifically configured, which are listed below.

NOTE: If you have a Belkin Wireless router, you'll need to drop the firewall on the router and use a software firewall within your OS or you'll never be able to load a stream. It sucks, but it's true.

The recommended settings I've found are:
Stream speed to mobile device: 350kbps
Format: AAC/RTSP .3gp (both PC side and mobile device side)
TCP Port 554 open
UDP Ports 13398-13402 open
It was also suggested to run at the set speed of 320kbps
