The Samsung Instinct case that ships with the device is more that suitable to protect against scratches. However, it's not a practical case for most, since you do not have quick access to alerts without removing the Instinct from it's case. The included case is top loading and the Instinct does fit firmly in the case. The case is not very attractive and looks inexpensive.
While not necessary, you will probably want to get a new case for your Instinct. The choices at launch are limited, but we expect countless new cases to debut shortly.

When selecting a case, make sure the store has a good return policy. If for some reason you are not please with your purchase, a reputable store will offer up to a 30-day return policy.
